Mutual Aid Request for Auxiliary Police Departments

To: Auxiliary Police Agencies

The 26th Annual Groton Road Race is just around the corner.  We would respectfully request volunteer assistance from your agency for crowd and traffic control.  The race is scheduled for Sunday, April 30, 2017 and is expected to draw over twenty-five hundred runners.  The race has been one of the safest events listed in running chronicles, due to the dedicated and professional support we receive from individuals representing various agencies, departments and disciplines.

The staging area for the event will be located at the Workers Credit Union 308 Main Street (Rte. 119) Groton, Massachusetts.  ALL Volunteers are required to sign in to ensure an accurate count.  Officer in Charge/Commanders are asked to report to the Command Tent no later than 10:30 AM on Sunday, April 30th for a pre-race briefing and traffic post assignments.  We would also request that the OIC/Commander of your unit, submit your radio frequency and PL code prior to the race so that we may coordinate the communications with the command post.

The Groton Police Department and the Road Race Committee depend upon the generosity of supporting agencies and their people to make this event so successful.  Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided to all participants.

Cruisers, mountain bikes, and of course personnel are welcome.

Please reply to Deputy Chief James Cullen @ 978-448-5555 or email or Kathy Newell at at your earliest convenience.

This event would not be possible without the generous assistance of your department.  Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Donald L. Palma, Jr.

Chief of Police

Groton Police Department
